Faith Formation

The Church of Saint Joseph strives to offer Faith Formation for Catholics of all ages.

Sunday School

Sunday School classes for children ages 4-5 and in kindergarten are held on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am in the Lab School.

Faith Formation

Faith Formation classes for children in grades 1-8 are held on Wednesday evenings (usually twice a month) at 6:30 pm in the Saint Joseph Lab School. We are no longer holding two sessions each Faith Formation evening. Instead, all students in grades 1-8 will attend classes from 6:30-7:45 pm.

Our Church teaches that parents are the primary educators for their children in the faith. To honor this reality, we are striving to move to a program that has more parental involvement. This year, 2011-2012, each month has a Community Night scheduled. On these Community Nights, parents are expected to accompany their child. We will begin at 6:30 pm in the church with prayer, and then children will be dismissed to go to their classrooms. The evenings will conclude with refreshments for parents and children at 7:45 pm.

Each year will now have a theme. This year’s theme is “Sacraments: Signs of God’s Presence.” Classes and Community Nights are structured around monthly topics corresponding to this overall theme. You will then be able to have a full family discussion on these topics, coming to a greater understanding of your faith together!

Children will meet in their classrooms one additional time each month. In addition to this, resources will go home for one extra lesson that parents are expected to work on at home with their child throughout the month. Again, this is meant to encourage and support your efforts in the home.

Confirmation

To prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation, classes are offered for students in grades 9-10. Grade 9 and grade 10 preparation consists of both large group and small group sessions. Groups usually meet twice a month. In the spring, tenth-graders are sealed with the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation at the Cathedral of Saint Mary in Saint Cloud.
