A Message from the Coordinator of Youth Ministry

“We are no longer able to hear God – there are too many frequencies filling our ears.”- Pope Benedict IX

Tune in to what matters—step up and get involved in the life of your faith! At the Church of Saint Joseph we hope to create a place where your spirit can be fed and your ideas and creativity can be nurtured. The message of Jesus is one that is not for those wishing a simple, easy life. The message of the Gospel is challenging. In fact, Archbishop Oscar Romero (and don’t roll your eyes, you’d love this man!) once shared, “A gospel that doesn’t unsettle, a word of God that doesn’t get under anyone’s skin… what kind of a gospel is that?”

I look forward to the ways that we can dig deeper this year—together. Going it alone is never fun. Our Catholic church is grounded in community. Jesus needed 12 other people to help him. Even he knew he could not do the work of God alone. We were meant to be in relationship with one another. Sometimes it’s easier said than done as we all know people on our journey we’d rather not deal with, but as people of faith our call is to love the best we can. Sometimes we do this really well, other days not so well.

So, enter this journey of faith at some level. Join a group, come serve, attend Castaway or the Youth Rally. Help create something of interest. You have many gifts to share! Don’t hold back.

To the right you will find links to various sites that might help you to deepen your faith and make the journey more interesting.

And, as always, I am available to connect whenever you are in need of a listening ear or have a question. I can be reached at 363-7505 x129 or at youthministry@churchstjoseph.org.

Keep the faith!
